The Hack is Sharing
The new code plus my experience with a lady in the pool
I went swimming yesterday and while I was doing my usual 100 squats in the shallow side of the pool, a young lady walked up to me and asked with a smile, ‘can I join you?’ and I said ‘yes, why not?’
Apparently, she was a newbie and she thought squatting in the water had something to do with swimming.
While squatting, she said in a typical Nigerian way “I don’t know how to swim o”, hoping I’d teach her a thing or two but for some reason, I didn’t. I stepped out of the pool a few moments after. My bad
The interesting thing was, a few minutes after, a young guy who could barely swim offered to teach her, and there they were.
I didn’t matter anymore, neither did what I know. it didn’t even matter if he could swim or not, what mattered was, he was willing to help and share the little knowledge he had. He was the hero
That goes around a lot these days. In the connection economy which the world is currently in, ‘who knows it’ doesn’t matter as much as ‘who shares it’.
Relevance is built by sharing and connecting.
It’s a new week, connect with people, do some generous work and share something that matters.
Share a tip, share a course, share a hack, share your work, share your thoughts.
Don’t step out of the pool or you don't matter.
The culture we will live in next month is a direct result of what people like us share today. The things we share and don’t share determine what happens next.
It takes guts to say, “I read this and you should too.” The guts to care enough about our culture, to move it forward and to stand for something.

And yes! Like and say something to encourage someone that shares, it’s a gift, another way of saying ‘I love you’
Have a great week
